Why I'm Running

I'm running to turn the focus of our city government back to the residents of Menlo Park. If elected, I'll lead and support efforts to:

  • Protect neighborhood streets by fast-tracking permanent and temporary measures to stop cut-through traffic.
  • Streamline the approval process for home remodels and additions when there’s support from neighbors.
  • Require the reporting of meetings between city council members and people with business before the city.
  • Slow down the rush to replace the main library given that there isn’t widespread community support.
  • Create a District 2 neighborhood council where residents can propose initiatives and raise concerns.
  • Identify transportation infrastructure solutions to commuter traffic.

A Statement on My Employment at Facebook

In a small community it isn't unusual for Council Members to have jobs with local companies. I currently hold a job at Facebook. In the past, several members of the city council had to recuse themselves from matters related to Stanford, a relationship that has been more consequential to Menlo Park. The next 4 years for the city will be defined by issues unrelated to Facebook:
1. Hiring a new City Manager
2. Grade separation
3. Affordable housing
4. Downtown specific plan caps
5. Belle Haven library
6. A sunshine ordinance for city officials
7. Transportation Master Plan
I am running to give the residents of District 2 the opportunity of choosing a council member who will put their interests first. Menlo Park deserves a Council Member who has not accepted thousands of dollars in donations from developers; who will not use their position for personal benefit; who will adhere to the Brown Act and who is not the subject of an investigation by the California State Political Practices Commission.
